This piece of art was made by Ed Gray. He depicts the different people using public transportation in London. At the forefront we can see the stairs probably leading to the metro underground. There are different people going down : a woman carrying a stroller with her little boy, a man who is carrying a briefcase and an old man with a walking stick. Just with these three characters we understand that the purpose of the artist is to show the cultural diversity in London. This idea is supported by the different people going up and leaving the station : there is a young man who is drinking and carrying a sport’s bag, another young man wearing a hat, a boy who seems to be coming back from school and two men at the right corner who seems to coming back from work. The artist also portrays a kiosk at the left hand side. We can also see a homeless. There is a janitor at the right. By putting them in a corner is to show that there are always people working in these places and improving the lives of the passengers. In the background we can see a bus and two people kissing each other. And on the left we can see people protesting. I think the purpose of the artist is to show the cultural diversity but also to show in which circumstances people are using transports. It could be for work, for school, to meet friends, to go to the gym or to go grocery shopping.
