Toothless was classified as a Night Fury dragon, which was considered to be one of the most mysterious
and fearsome types of Dragons that existed. Hiccup gave him the name Toothless because of his
retractable teeth. Rather than fire like most dragons, Toothless was able to shoot lightning from his mouth.
He could not fly on his own due to this handicap. He was protective and loyal, he never hesitated to risk his
own life when Hiccup was put in danger. Toothless was very playful and active. He was the most intelligent
of all the dragons.
He was pitch black. His head was wide and flat. His eyes were very large and pale, yellowish green. His
pupils changed according to his mood. When he was happy, they became very large, cute and almost
square. When he feelt tense or threatened, they narrowed. His nose was very flat. He had four grey claws
on each hand and foot. Toothless had two sets of wings (one main pair and one smaller pair near the base
of his tail). They were powerful
