Where were you last weekend ?
Well, I was at the swimming pool last Saturday with Anna, my best friend. We had a good time.
Was the weather sunny ?
Yes, it was. We were lucky. And you, where were you?
I was on a trip to Cardiff with my sisters but we weren't very lucky, you know. The weather wasn't very nice, it rained on Saturday and Sunday.
And we didn't have dinner at the hotel because the food was horrible.

formes contractée "wasn't" et "weren't
to HAVE au prétérit simple
sujet (toutes les personnes) + had
forme négative => sujet + did + have + not
forme contractée "didn't have"

Be est un auxiliaire. Il n'a pas besoin de l'auxiliaire "did" aux formes interrogatives et négatives
Have est un verbe lexical. Il peut être un auxiliaire (present perfect par exemple, have got...)
On emploie donc l'auxiliaire "did" pour former les interrogations et négations + Base verbale "have"
