Réponse :Schools in London:
French or bilingual French/English education
It is provided in establishments with private status under English law (they are part of the “Independent Schools”). They are therefore not free. Their rates vary according to their status (approved, contracted). The students are overwhelmingly French. Being victims of their success with French expatriates, it can be very difficult to register your children there. Count from £7,000 to £15,000 per school year depending on the schools and grade levels.
Private English education
These schools are called “Independent schools” in England. They can vary in quality and infrastructure. Find out about their level before enrolling your children and visit them. Count from £18,000 to £30,000 per school year depending on the level (nursery, primary, secondary or higher).
Public English education: or “State Schools”
It is free public school, but not necessarily secular. There are excellent primary schools in London, so much so that very well-to-do families who have traditionally chosen to send their children to private schools are finding that they can find the same quality of education for free (Tatler magazine calculated that the cost of a full schooling for two children was £600,000).
Reputable public primary schools select students in particular through very close geographical proximity. It is therefore better to choose to live as close as possible to these schools if you want to have a chance of enrolling your children there. It is good to know that the prices of rentals around schools are generally subject to a premium.
International education “International Baccalaureate”
These establishments offer the “International Baccalaureate” program in kindergarten, primary and/or secondary, depending on the school. This program is the only globally recognized and identical course regardless of the establishment and the country where it is taught. It is therefore a good option if your family is likely to move to other countries afterwards, as it thus offers total continuity. Note that school fees are quite high (from £15,000 to £23,000 per school year depending on the level). Some of these establishments have an international reputation. Teaching is in English, with support options for students with a different native language.
