My intervention will be granted on the way in which we perceive human rights nowadays, and on the issue of race in the fight for human rights.
Small necessary prerequisite: the race does not exist scientifically. Studies have shown that there could be biologically more resemblances between a Bavarian from Germany and a Bamileke from Cameroon, than between two Germans or two Cameroonians. But having said that, we are very happy with this formidable step, but concretely what does it change? Is a grand statement of principle enough to overthrow prejudice? Nothing is less sure.
The same observation can be made with regard to human rights.
This was dedicated to the beginning of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted on December 10, 1948 by the 58 member states that made up the entire United Nations General Assembly.
A day of commemoration of human rights has even been instituted (it is December 10). And let's be clear, today no country, even if it violates the most fundamental rights of these citizens every day, will not claim in front of the world that it does not adhere to the spirit of this declaration. .
How do we go beyond mere pious wishes and other recommendations? The question arises who cares today, when is black in this world, is the application of these principles self-evident?
