Past Simple or Past Perfect Tense – Simple: Fill in the gap with correct form.

PAST SIMPLE : add –ED (affirmative sentences)
PAST PERFECT : Had (not) + Past participle

Le past simple ( prétérit ) pour les actions passées

et le past perfect pour les actions antérieures aux actions passées.

Past simple : base verbale + ed  ( pour les verbes réguliers )

                   verbes irréguliers ( à apprendre par cœur )

Past perfect : had + participe passé ( 3ème colonne verbes irréguliers )

Remarque : phrases 15 et 25:

15. I (be) very angry when I (see) that my brother (eat) my apple.

( J'étais très en colère quand j'ai vu que mon frère avait mangé ma pomme.)

La colère est apparue au moment ou j'ai vu : il y a simultanéité => simple past ( prétérit ). La pomme a été mangée avant => past perfect

25. When I (get) off the bike I (see) that one of those tires (lose) air.

Il y a aussi simultanéité entre les deux premières actions => simple past

Le pneu a perdu de l'air/ s'est dégonflé avant => past perfect
