A virtuoso dancer, Patrick Dupond rose to prominence in 1976 when he won the gold medal at the international ballet competition in Bulgaria. Four years later, his career took a major turn when he was appointed principal dancer of the Opéra national de Paris at the age of 21. With a flawless career and growing popularity in France, ten years later he became dance director of the Opera ballet, succeeding classical dancer Rudolf Nureyev. He left this post in 1995, before being dismissed from his post by the Paris Opera two years later.
In 2017, Patrick Dupond announced the opening of an international dance school in Bordeaux, called “White Eagle Dance”, which he founded with Leïla Da Rocha. At the same time, he was chosen to become the new juror of the “Dance with the stars” tele-hook, broadcast on TF1.
