Day 1: Algiers
Nicknamed "Algiers la Blanche", the capital is the main gateway to Algeria and we ask you to take your time for discovery.
You will be able in particular to visit its city center, Bab el Oued, and to make the tour of the citadel known under the name of "the Casbah" and which is more than a thousand years old. Through its narrow streets, you will be able to meet many craftsmen and soak up the history of this beautiful city.
We also help you enter the sublime Basilica of Our Lady of Africa, a place of worship run by the Vatican. Finally, do not forget to allow yourself time to admire the Martyr Memorial, emblem of the city.
In the vicinity of Algiers, you can visit the Roman ruins of Tipasa and Cherchell, the former are classified as World Heritage by UNESCO.
Day 2: Béjaïa and Kabylia
Kabylia brings together landscapes as magnificent as they are diverse.
Pass in particular by Tikjda, when the mountain range puts on its white coat, the city offers a fascinating spectacle. You will surely be greeted by surprising locals: the monkeys of Tikjda. Do not hesitate to take the road to Tizi Ouzou, so you can admire the Djurdjura mountains.
Above all, do not miss the flagship city of this region: Bejaïa. Located in the heart of the Mediterranean area, this city has kept many marks of its past. You will be able to admire its Kasbah, its Hammadite ramparts, or even its "Pic du Singe". Then why not take a breath of fresh air at ex-Geydon Square. Of course, we recommend that you end your visit with a swim in the sea, around Capritour. You can practice all kinds of water sports, such as jet skiing or flyboarding. Béjaïa gave its name to the candles and played an important role in the spread in the West of Arabic numerals.
Day 3: Constantine and Sétif
The "city of bridges", Constantine, is one of the oldest cities in the world and an architectural marvel.
Stroll through its old town, and explore the Bey's Palace. A trace of Ottoman civilization, the building has been compared by Guy De Maupassant "to the dwellings of the Thousand and One Nights".
Setif also deserves a stop for a few hours. Near this city, we find Djemila, an ancient city classified by UNESCO, you can contemplate its forum, its temples and its basilicas, with houses at no less than 900 meters above sea level.
Day 4: Annaba
Located at the north-eastern end of the country, Annaba is one of the main towns and one of the oldest towns in Algeria. Stroll through its trendy city center filled with arcades, small cafes and restaurants, then continue to its seaside. Also visit the Church of St. Augustine of Hippo.
The little + GO: In eastern Algeria, the typical dish is chakchouka. It's a kind of vegetable ratatouille made with cooked tomatoes and peppers, take the opportunity to feast your taste buds!
Day 5: Oran and its surroundings
Oran “la radieuse” also has many strengths.Stop at its souk, then take a stroll along the water's edge in one of its renowned seaside resorts such as Ain-el-Turck or the Andalusians. Don't forget to pass by the Santa Cruz, a military fort with incredible views of the city.
Day 6: the Sahara desert
The Sahara is the largest sand desert in the world. It crosses no less than 9 African countries. 84% of Algeria is covered with it, alternating sublime dunes and oases. The opportunity for you to go shopping in 4 × 4 or to explore the desert on the back of a camel.
Tamanghasset is also a must-see in Algeria. This city of 70,000 inhabitants is the gateway to the Tassili plateau of Hoggar and the starting point for many excursions.
