Bjr,
Martin Luther King Junior, born in Atlanta, comes from a family of pastors and enjoys a rather favourable social environment. In 1954 he became a Baptist pastor and practiced in Montgomery, Alabama. Despite intimidation, the boycott will last a year until the Supreme Court rules against the bus company.
In 1964, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize as the youngest recipient. In 1967, he declared himself against the war in Vietnam, believing that the United States "occupies the country as an American colony". He became involved in the fight against poverty and organized the "Campaign of the Poor" to address issues of economic justice.
Martin Luther King is assassinated by a white segregationist on April 4, 1968 in Memphis while supporting a garbage strike.
