Exercice 1:
1- White owners created something called « slave codes » . Slaves couldn't
learn to read and write, vote or attend school.
2- Most baby slaves had to stay with their parents and often weren't allowed to go from one plantation to another.
3- When Harriet Tubman was a fugitive, she weren't allowed to hide and travel by night to avoid slave catchers.
4- Rosa Parks couldn't sit in front of the bus because of the segregation. When the police arrived, she refused to move so she had to go to prison.
5- During the Jim Crow laws, marriages between a white person and a black person weren't allowed (N.B: il n'y a pas de suite??)
Exercice 2:
1- The teacher forbade them to enter the school.
They had been forbidden by the teacher to enter the school.
2- Jeremy will buy the birthday cake.
The birthday cake will be bought by Jeremy.
3- Students dissect several species of animals when they take biology courses.
Several species of animals have been dissected by students when they take biology courses.
4 – The students can learn all those lessons.
Those lessons can be learned by the students. (N.B: je ne suis pas sûre de cette derniére phrase, essaye de vérifier toi même avec le verbes comment cela doit être)
