Hello, I interviewed my neighbor who is a midwife.
After a scientific baccalaureate, she did a year of preparation for the midwifery contest then she did a BTS Biotechnologie and finally four years of midwifery. Internships accounted for half the study time. In the firt year, she attended morning internships and in the afternoon.
During the other years, she had one month of internship for about three weeks of courses.
When she started, there was a need for a midwife, it wasn’t that difficult to. She performed numerous replacements during the summer at the hospital. Her studies are over she presented herself spontaneously, and she was hired in CDD at first and then in CDI.
She takes care of everything that concerns the pregnant woman :
• Pre-natal follow-up
• Birth preparation classes
• The childbirth
It also ensures the follow-up of women hospitalized during their pregnancy, the care of the baby and the mother. She also does post-natal consultations and gynecological follow-up.
She loves her job because she likes to see the newborns with their mothers. She is patient, courageous and listening. She advises to hang on because studies aren’t obvious but in the end it’s a nice reward because it’s a beautiful job.
